A campaign was under way to "Restore the Regent" in 1992. The campaign called for the support of $900,000 through donations and funds. The whole community was asked to participate in the fundraising activities. As Klepfer Reed expressed, "The project caught people's imaginations because of nostalgia for the generations who have been to the Regent, and such a project brings people together." The funding of the theatre will go to renovate the building and provide for the return of recitals, concerts, seminars, meetings, film festivals and possibly a multimedia "Midwestern Experience" for tourists on the the history of the region. Other events were also scheduled for celebration of the restoration process.
