The Cotton Theater would not stand alone in the theatrical realm. There were two other theaters in the Cedar Falls area. There was the Champlin's Summer Theatre, which was located at the corner of Fifth and Washington. This theater did not impede on the Cotton in that is was just a summer theater, and the Cotton's season ran from September to May. However, the Majestic Theater, which was located at the corner of Second and Main, did provide some competition. The Majestic offered vaudeville and motion pictures for only a ten-cent admission. The rise of the automobile in 1910 also raised some competition as people were able to travel to Waterloo where they had the opportunity to choose from the three theaters offering live entertainment and movies. This competition would soon get the best of the Cotton Theater and lead to the eventual change of hands and the rise of the Regent Theater.
