Main Street Cedar Falls has seen many churches come and go.  Many moves off, and some changed their buildings.  Every change the churches made over the years has changed the dynamics of the street.  Most churches started out meeting any place that they could find - some above businesses in town; others started in the Old School house.

Some of the first churches in the area were:

1st Presbyterian (1855 - present)

1st Baptist (1858 - present)

1st Danish Baptist (1872 - 1923)

    Throughout the years other churches have come and gone on Main.  While Cedar Falls has had a wide range of denominations over the years, Main Street has only had Protestant churches.  This has been a matter of action, not legislation.
