Today, when the name "Electric Park" is mentioned, only one entertainment
attraction within the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area comes to mind: the Electric Park Ballroom.
The ballroom/dance hall is the only remaining attraction from an earlier time when the
name Electric Park meant something greater and special to the Northeast Iowa residents.
Waterloo's Electric Park was one of the many amusement parks that was built in the United
States during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This era witnessed a
changing entertainment atmosphere in the United States that included spectacular amusement
parks, like those at Coney Island. Electric Park during this time period was one of
the major entertainment centers of the Midwest.
