The Winslow House
* Built in 1853 by J.H. Winslow

* Stage tavern - most guests were travelers awaiting the arrival of
their stage
The Carter
* Replaced "The Western" in 1858 when J.O. Carter
bought it
* A third story was added and the interior was remodeled
* Local belief is that a fire demolished it
The Burr House
* Built sometime around 1858 after "The Carter" was
destroyed
* Owned by T.J. and A.N. Burr
* Brick, four stories
* 52 rooms, heated by steam and hot air, lighted by gas
* Finely finished and furnished from top to bottom
The Black Hawk Hotel
* 1917 - third floor and back room added; electrical wiring
and indoor plumbing installed
* 70 rooms
* Run by Burke Corporation for last 50 years
