During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Cedar Falls was a different city
than it is today. The city itself was just really beginning to gain ground on the other
cities of the time. Despite this, Cedar Falls was an industrial leader in many ways. One
particular industry in which Cedar Falls excelled was the ice cutting industry due to its
location on the Cedar River. This line of business provided the city with the economic
means to support many people. Although Cedar Falls was a leading force in the ice
cutting industry, it was not the only city or town in the area that cut ice. |
