The Waterloo area should be proud of its aviation history. This area has been influenced by some of the greatest pilots in history. Although forgotten by most historians, Lincoln Beachey's airmail drop was a sign of things to come for aviation in the Midwest. Who would have known at that time that by the 1940s the airplane would be instrumental in deciding the fate of so many warring countries? Waterloo has ties to that outcome. Through the work of the Glenn Curtis, Eddie Rickenbocker, John Livingston, and many others, Waterloo participated in the development of transportation.
