Clearly, Deere & Company has been up and down within the past few decades. Whether they were at peak productions in the 1970s or at low points with the recession of the 1980s, Deere has remained the leading manufacturer of agricultural, forestry, construction, and lawn care equipment and products. Also, Deere is still one of the top manufacturers of service parts and engines. Currently, Deere & Company is a leader in the forestry department with log skidders and tree harvesting machines, and now has business relations in over 160 different countries with over 34,000 employees. As of 1994, Deere & Company had over 4,000 employees in the Waterloo area. Deere & Company has been a key player in the Waterloo, Iowa area since it laid its foundation on March 14, 1918.
