Before the construction and decision to build the Parkade, merchants along Main Street were fearing the new shopping experience of the shopping mall.  Many other ideas were considered before deciding on the curved six blocks of Main Street.

During construction a lot of curious future customers came to look at the new shopper-friendly downtown district.  Each block was done one at a time, and merchants were able to fill the needs of their customers.
