The theater was donated to Cedar Falls by Merle and Winfred Blair and the Beck Trust of Mason City.  However, over the years the theater began to show signs of its age.  Soon the structure of the building began to crumble and in fact had to be shut down for repairs.  Steps needed to be taken to restore the soon to be historical landmark.
